UK Skilled Worker Visa
Live and work in the UK as a skilled professionalCHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY
The United Kingdom completed the Brexit transition on 2nd January 2021, and has started the new UK Skilled Worker visa program.
The Skilled Worker Visa was introduced on 1 December 2020, and replaced the Tier 2 (General) visa. Under the new points-based immigration system, the Skilled Worker Visa is now the main immigration route for non British and Irish individuals who wish to work in the UK.
After five years of this visa, you can obtain the permanent visa (ILR), and in year 6, obtain a British passport and citizenship.
You can apply for a skilled worker program if you have a job offer from an approved employer in the United Kingdom.
UK vs Canada
Unlike Canada, where applicants first apply for the skilled based visa and then must go and find a job once the visa is received, the UK has a reverse engineered approach.
